Sights and Segways - Friday 14th October

Today was our second day in Rome. We walked around the city and went to see some sights. Rome is very busy with locals and tourists, bustling to see the historic sights. Our hotel was about a 5 minute walk to the the Trevi Fountain,
so we walked there first. The Trevi fountain was designed by Nicola Salvi, and was built in 1732, and finished in 1762. So it took 30 years to complete!

Trevi Fountain...

The Trevi Fountain was very beautiful, and it was also very big. We were amazed at the design and the detail of it. After taking lots photos of it, we then made our way to the Spanish Steps.

The Spanish Steps....

The Spanish Steps was again very beautiful and very big, with it's steps leading up to the French Church. Sajan and I tried to have a race to see who could get to the top of the steps first, but found that they went higher and higher, so we gave up. After we had a little rest, and took more photos (two including a dog in a box and a cat on a leash), we continued walking to Piazza Del Popolo.

A dog in a box and a cat on a leash.... Only in Rome!

After we had a snack, we walked a little more to Rome's Botanical Gardens, Villa Borghese. In the gardens, Sajan and I hired some Segways. They were so fun!!

Relaxing in Villa Borghese...

That was definitely the highlight of the day (for us). After we drove a round a bit, we returned the Segway's and continued walking to Piazza Navona.

Piazza Navona...

We had some Pizza and some Gelato Ice cream. In the Piazza were three fountains, two small ones and one big one. The design of all those three fountains were very detailed. We took some photos of that, then continued on to the Pantheon.

The Patheon...

The Pantheon was a ancient Roman temple. Its roof was shaped like a dome, and it had a circle shaped skylight on it. The church was very popular, and lots of people were there to see it. We looked around the Pantheon a bit, then made our way back to the hotel, stopping at the Trevi fountain to have one last look. This time it was packed heaps of tourists.

It was a very full on day, and we he walked for 7 hours. We were tired by the end of it.
