Amalfi Coast - Wednesday 12 October

Today we caught the Sita bus to the town of Amalfi and Positano. The bus drove around the blue ribbon drive, one of the windiest, narrowest, most scenic, costal drives in the world. When we arrived in the town of Amalfi an hour and 50 minutes later, we got off the bus, stretched our legs out and went for a little walk up a street with lots of shops and restaurants.

We didn't stay long in the town of Amalfi, because we decided to go down to a gqrotto called Grotta Dello Smeraldo, aka The Green Grotto, which was about 4 kilometers down from the town of Amalfi. The green grotto was pretty cool, and it made up for missing out on going to the Blue Grotto in Anacapri. We were taken around the grotto in a boat, and a guide was there to tell us about the Grotto and point things out. Inside the grotto were lots of Stalactites hanging down from the ceiling and Stalagmites growing up which looked pretty awesome. An area of the water was emerald green, as there was a hole in the grotto wall below the surface of the water.

When we were finished in the Green Grotto, we had lunch, then we took the Sita Bus to Postiano, a small town where all of the pastel coloured houses are terraced on a very steep hillside.

We decided to go to the Spiaggia Grande Beach, which was down the bottom of the hill. As the bus dropped us off at the top of the hill, we had to take a series of steps down to the bottom, where the beach was. It was very tiring, and our legs felt like jelly by the end of it. We sat down on the steps at the beach and had some Gelato Ice cream in the sunshine. Then we had to walk up the steps again to get back to the top of hill, where we caught the Sita bus back to Sorrento.
